Body fat, not body weight, is an important indicator of overall health and fitness. A high percentage of body fat increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and some types of cancer.
The technology used in the workplace to measure body fat is called bioelectrical impedance. The process is quick and does not require disrobing. The employee holds handles that send a small electrical current through the upper body. The strength and speed of the electrical current measures the body's water content, which is directly related to the amount of fat.
An average of 15 participants can be screened in one hour on one machine.
